How to Choose the Right Wall Light 🤔
The first parameter is wattage. CARDO 180 at 2X4W=8W suits a hallway or bedside, while CARDO 600 at 2X8W=16W is ideal for a large living room wall or stairwell. Simple rule: the larger the space, the more power needed.
A common mistake is buying a fixture too small for a tall wall. A 2.5 m wall will look unbalanced with only an 18 cm fixture. CARDO 600 (60 cm) creates a far more impressive presence. Also consider mounting height — recommended 170–180 cm from floor to the bottom of the fixture.
In Israeli apartments, concrete walls are the main challenge. Make sure you have proper concrete drill bits and appropriate anchors. UPDOWN fixtures with light emitting both up and down should not be installed on ceilings lower than 2.3 m — the upward beam will create an unattractive spot on the ceiling.
💡 Pro Tip
UPDOWN fixtures create a stunning wash effect on the wall — for maximum impact, install on a light-colored wall. On dark walls the effect is less pronounced.
Installation — Key Things to Know 🔧
Before installation check that there's an electrical box in the wall at the right height, or work with an electrician to run a wire from the ceiling. Wall lights require direct 230V connection — not suitable for external transformer connection.
Steps: drill, anchor the junction box, connect 3 wires (live/neutral/earth), attach the fixture to the plate, tighten and test. Ensure proper earthing — metal fixtures without earthing are an electrical hazard.
Maintenance: wipe with a damp cloth after switching off. No bulbs to replace — LEDs are built-in and designed for the life of the fixture.
